ELECTRICAL GENERATOR FAQ
What size generator do I need? Can I power the whole house?
The air-cooled, standby generators vary in size from 8kW to 22kW. With the aid of Load Management Calculations and Smart Management Modules, which allow selected appliances to only run if power is available, most customers find they can power all that they might need or want in a power outage.
Do generators run on Natural Gas or Liquid Propane?
Standby generators use either one. Mabry’s can help coordinate the gas piping for mechanical installation no matter which one you choose. We will obtain both the electrical and mechanical permits required for the job.
Can I have a generator installed in the next three days before the Hurricane makes landfall?
How often should my generator exercise?
A generator can be set to exercise either weekly or bi-weekly for about 5 minutes to maintain optimal working condition should there be a power outage. Mabry’s normally sets them to exercise biweekly (every two weeks) to save fuel.
Can I monitor my generator from my phone?
Yes, Generac offers Mobile Link to monitor your generator.
Can Mabry’s service portable generators?
Yes, if you live locally and can transport them to our shop, Mabry’s can service your portable generator. You will be notified when the repair is complete, and your generator is ready for pick-up.
ABOUT HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SUPPLY AND INSTALL A GENERATOR?
Depending on the generator size you choose and the amount of electrical wiring required, the average out-of-pocket cost can be anywhere from $8,000 to upwards of $12,000
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST FOR AN IN-HOME CONSULTATION?
There is no charge for a Mabry’s Sales Consultant to visit your home, discuss your specific needs, answer your questions, gather information and generate an estimate to supply and install a generator.
DOES MABRY’S OFFER GENERATOR FINANCING?
During an In-Home Consultation, Mabry’s can collect some basic customer information and complete an application with Synchrony Financial on your behalf. A response is available within just a few minutes.
DOES MABRY’S OFFER ROUTINE MAINTENANCE FOR STANDBY GENERATORS?
Yes, Mabry’s offers a One-Year or Three-Year Generator Maintenance Agreement with maintenance performed twice per year as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
